The need to set in place the optimum communications organization cuts across all industries, across all size companies. Some of the people who hire us are:
Chief Communications Officers…Whether new to the company or long established, CCOs often feel a need for outside perspective…another senior counselor with whom to share ideas and brainstorm organizational change. We bring broad-based industry knowledge, the capacity to conduct quick, relevant research and the ability to provide empirical data that can support recommendations for fundamental change. The outcome: productivity improvement, better results and enhanced ROI.
Chief Executive Officers…When the senior communications position is vacant and a new search is about to get underway, we find the CEO often asks if the communications structure and spending is as it should be. The CEO usually gets an inadequate answer. That’s where we can help. Our work can be done in parallel to a search or prior to in order to help shape the job description to the “new” priorities of the position.
Chief Operating Officers…COOs like to drill down and understand the structure, strategic focus and spending of every department; communications is no exception. Just as is the case with the CEO, when leadership of the communications function is in transition, the COO will often step forward to demand a fact-based analysis and recommendation. That’s what we do.
Agency Executives…Feldman & Partners’ bias is to enhance client-agency relationships. As such, we get requests from senior agency executives who see opportunities to take a pre-emptive, pro-active approach to strengthen their key client relationships. Perhaps a long-term, multi-million dollar engagement is going well and the agency wants to show the client it will invest in keeping the partnership fresh and in enhancing the strategic focus and productivity of the team via outside facilitation. Or perhaps a large relationship is good, but has a few pockets of problems. We can help quickly turn that negative around and help assure those kinds of issues are dealt with more quickly in the future. Whatever the case, our ability to help enhance the client-agency partnership only leads to positive outcomes. We also are occasionally called on to support staff training as well as to communicate what it takes to win competitive presentations.
Private Equity Groups…To the extent private equity groups buy companies with the purpose of helping them get more focused and efficient, we provide a quick, customized analysis of ways to enhance the efficiency of the communications function while still assuring it generates strong results.
Venture Capital Groups…New companies usually rely on savvy marketing and public relations to quickly build the brand and create a point of differentiation. We work with VC firms to recommend ways to quickly start up the communications function with an eye on keeping costs low. We can also help with the search for talent and, if needed, agency support.
